Flipr Connect V1 is a gateway designed to collect data from the Flipr sensor, including information on pool water quality such as temperature, pH, and chlorine or bromine levels. It must be properly connected to the WiFi network of your home so that Flipr AnalysR 3 can send its data.
This gateway uses the Wi-Fi connection from the house to transfer this data to our servers. This allows users to remotely monitor their pool status and receive updates in real time, making it easy to manage and maintain the pool.
It therefore allows you to recover data from the pool, even if it is not covered by your wifi network, at a maximum distance of 40 meters.
Prerequisites and remarks
- Our gateway works only on networks Wifi 2.4 Ghz
- The password of your wifi must include a maximum of 30 characters
- The gateway does not manage unsecured or open networks (No password)
- The bridge must remain connected permanently
- The distance between the bridge and the Flipr must not exceed 40 metres
- Flipr must not be fully submerged (e.g., covered under a roller shutter)
Transmissions between the Flipr AnalysR and our gateway are conducted using Bluetooth 5 long-range technology. Therefore, the Wi-Fi network is not available directly on the Flipr AnalysR device itself.
Please be aware that the 40-meter distance is approximate. Our testing has successfully captured data from distances of up to 100 meters without obstructions. However, the Bluetooth range can be diminished by various factors. Here is a list of common factors that can reduce Bluetooth range:
- Physical obstacles: Walls, furniture and other solid obstacles, athermic treatments, pool covers
- Radio Interfencies: The presence of other devices emitting radio signals, such as Wi-Fi routers, wireless phones or microwaves
- External Environment: Meteorological Conditions and Electromagnetic Interference in an Environment
- Electromagnetic Interfencies: Electronic equipment such as electric cables, transformers and office equipment can generate electromagnetic interference
Troubleshooting
You do not receive data or are unable to connect your Flipr Connect
The initial check to perform involves examining the connection status of the gateway. To do this, navigate to the Settings menu and select Gateways. Then, choose the gateway (Gothed) and verify the connection status. If it reads "Disconnected," it could indicate that either the network isn't operating at 2.4 GHz or the entered password is either wrong or exceeds the maximum length of 30 characters.
Wifi 2.4 GHz
Internet service provider's connection boxes (BOX) may provide various Wi-Fi connection modes, including 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz Wi-Fi. However, it's important to note that only the 2.4GHz mode is compatible with Flipr Connect. If you encounter issues with this mode, it's advisable to access your BOX's settings and review the Wi-Fi configuration. Please keep in mind that we cannot have knowledge of all the specific configurations for every internet service provider, so this adjustment must be made by you.
Flipr Connect is only compatible with secure 2.4 GHz networks.
Password
The Flipr Connect V1 gateway exclusively operates with secure Wi-Fi networks that have passwords within the range of 8 to 30 characters. It's essential to be aware that certain internet service providers may occasionally generate passwords exceeding 30 characters. If you encounter this situation, you may need to modify the length of your Wi-Fi network password to align with the gateway's compatibility requirements. Ensure that your Wi-Fi network password falls within this specified length range to facilitate a secure and effective connection with the gateway.
Open or unsecured networks are not supported by our gateway.
The password must be between 8 and 30 characters long
Change wifi and/or password
Menu Settings / Gateways, then select the Gateway
This scree should display Gateway status
If the Gateway is disconnected you have to change network settings
After accessing the Wi-Fi settings on your gateway, you can either choose your Wi-Fi network from the list or manually enter its name (SSID).
Please note: On an iPhone (iOS), only the network your phone is currently connected to will be visible, while Android will display all available networks. Be sure to select a 2.4 GHz network, as previously explained.
Apple phones (iPhone IOS) only list the network on which they are connected. Connect to the previous 2.4 GHz network before configuring. If this is not possible, enter the network manually.
Flipr Connect is only compatible with secure 2.4 GHz networks.
The password must be between 8 and 30 characters long
Once you've chosen the network, you'll be prompted to input the password. As mentioned earlier, it's important to ensure that the password falls within the range of 8 to 30 characters in length.
After a brief moment, you can proceed to check the configuration of your Gateway by navigating to the settings menu (Menu > Settings > Gateways) and selecting the bridge The connection status should be displayed as "Connected."
Et voilĂ ! You should receive measurements from your Flipr depending on the selected mode: 20 times a day or every 75 minutes in normal mode, twice a day in eco, 700 times a day in boost mode (Discommended out of test period under penalty of emptying the battery). In sleep mode (SLEEP), no measurement is made. This mode is only used for storage.
Distance
Even with repeated attempts, it's important to note that the Flipr doesn't require placement in an area with Wi-Fi coverage. It continuously transmits data to the bridge at two-second intervals, and the bridge can be positioned up to 40 meters away from the pool. However, it's crucial that the bridge remains consistently connected to your home's Wi-Fi network. Please keep in mind that the effective range may vary depending on factors like your specific setup, wall thickness, the presence of certain types of glazing, and potential electromagnetic interference from devices such as microwave ovens.
Colors of the indicator light
White : The gateway is not connected to wifi
Purple : The gateway is communicating with the app (setup)
Green : The gateway is connected to wifi network
Blue flashes : The gateway is receiving data from Flipr
Blue flashes can be visible in any state (White / Purple / Green) of the gateway if Flipr is visible
